Paul Kachkaev promises to undertake severe measures against corrupt officials

The struggle with corruption has become the key theme, discussed at the conference in Ufa administration yesterday. The law-enforcement bodies report 539 malfeasances were registered on the territory of Ufa since the beginning of this year, including 223 cases of bribery. The cases of forgery and abuse of power are also frequent enough.

The average sum of the bribes, received by the officials in Ufa increased more than two times for the last year – from 20 thousand rubles in 2009 to 43 thousand in 2010. Since the beginning of the year 15 malfeasances on an especially large scale was revealed in the city, including two cases of bribery (the sum of one bribe appeared to be about four million rubles). In opinion of the Ufa Mayor Paul Kachkaev the low level of salaries can’t excuse the bribery. Thus, in the sphere of health care and education bribery is becoming wide-scaled.

“The medics with unclean hands have to be inserted into the black list and mustn’t be hired again later” – the head of the city mentioned and added he would undertake all efforts to avoid the facts of bribery in Ufa administration. “We’ve already fired off three officials in 2010” – he reported – “I promise the measures against those, who violate the law, will be severest”.
