Rustem Khamitov: our aim is to raise the prestige of working professions

The President of Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov visited the Ufa professional-technical school N52 today on the Day of Knowledge. Here he communicated with the students and pedagogues and with the veterans of the Ufa engine plant (UMPO), which the school trained specialists for.
“This is the unique enterprise” – Rustem Khamitov said, talking to the students – “And those of you, who intend to stay working here after the end of your training courses, make the right choice. Another thing that the prestige of the work specialties is recently falling down and the system of professional education urgently needs cardinal improvements”.
The school faces several problems today and one of them is the unwillingness of young people to master working specialties.
“In the soviet era the number of the students was much higher” – the director of the school Irshat Galimov says – “Today the prestige of working specialties is rather low. Young people try to enter the colleges and institutes first, even on a chargeable basis, and only those, who stay off the board, come to us after”.
At the same time the need in working professions in the labor market today is as high as never before and it often happens so that people with higher education fail to find suitable job and have to go to the technical school in order to master working specialties there.
“The problems of professional education were under active discussion yesterday at the joint meeting of the Russian State Council and the Commission for modernization and technological development of Russian economics under the President of Russian Federation” – Rustem Khamitov said – “This problem is of paramount importance for the whole country and our main aim today is to raise the prestige of working professions in order to provide further development of the country’s industry”.
In completion the President wished all students and pedagogues of the school successful work and studies and promised to make everything possible to solve the majority of the school’s problems.
