Today is the birthday of the President of Republic of Bashkortostan

The President RB Rustem Khamitov celebrates his 56th birthday today –the first birthday as the President of Republic of Bashkortostan.

Rustem Khamitov was born on August 18, 1954, in the village Drachenino, Kemerovo region. He had grown up in the village Shtandy, Bashkiria, and the youthful period of his biography was over in Ufa, where he finished a secondary school in 1971.

In 1971 he came to Moscow to enter the Moscow’s Higher Technical College by N.E. Baumann. He entered the College’s specialty ‘Aircraft engines” under the competition ten people on one vacancy. After finishing the College he worked as a foreman at JSC “UMPO”. The name of his wife is Gulshat and she is a doctor. They live together during 30 years. His son and daughter live in Moscow. The mother of the President RB still lives in Shtandy and his father Zaki Khamitov died in 1993.

After “UMPO” Rustem Khamitov worked at the Ufa Aviation Institute as an engineer, further as the junior researcher and later as the senior researcher.

During the reformation period he headed the laboratory for the land use of aircraft engines and after he became the chief of the scientific and production division at the all-Union Scientific and Research Institute on construction of the trunk pipelines in Ufa.

In 1990 he was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Republic and the chairman of the commission on ecology and rational use of natural resources. In 1993-1994 he was the director of the Institute of applied ecology and nature management RB. In 1994 he has become the Minister on environment protection RB. After that Rustem Khamitov left for Moscow to head the department of prevention and liquidation of emergency situation under the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Since 2000 he was the chief federal inspector in Republic of Bashkortostan under the Plenipotentiary of the President of Russian Federation in the Volga federal district.

On July 15, 2010, the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev appointed Rustem Khamitov the acting President RB. On July 19, 2010, the deputies of the State Council-Kurultay-RB approved his candidature and imposed the authority of the President RB on him.

For the first month of his presidency the new head of the region has done enough – he formed the Government, outlined the priorities in the state policy, opened his own blog in internet and many other things. It is not accidentally that in one of his interviews the President Rb Rustem Khamitov compares the first month on this post with the whole working year by the intenseness of this work. He underscores his adherence to the open style of communication every time and today the President RB will join the live broadcast for direct communication with the citizens RB on the “BST” TV-channel and at the radio-stations “ULDASH” and “Sputnik FM”.
