The XIV World Russian National Congress: “National education: formation of integral personality and responsible society”

The XIV World Russian National Congress will start working in Moscow today under the chairmanship of the Patriarch of Moscow and the whole of Russia Cyril. Solemn opening will take place in the Christ Savior Cathedral. In 2010 this great public forum is devoted to the problems of national education and to the children’s rights. The participants of the plenary sessions will discuss such themes as the teacher’s mission in modern Russian society, problems of Russian language, literature and history teaching, the essence of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory and its role in patriotic education of younger generation, international relations at schools etc.

The discussion of the problems, concerned with the juvenile justice, will become one of the most important themes.

The traditional conference “The Slavic world: unity and variety” will be held within the frames of the forum. Besides, the presentation of the anthology “Slavic Poetry” and “Poetry of the Cyrillic alphabet’s nations” will take place.

As the chief secretary of the Russian national Congress Oleg Efimov reported yesterday, delegations of CIS and foreign countries (Poland, Serbia, Bulgaria), the chairman of the Central Clerical Muslim Dept RF Talgat Tadjuddin, the head Russian rabbi Adolph Shaevitch, well-known politicians and activists of culture will take part in the Congress.

Republic of Bashkortostan will be represented by the head of the Aksakov Fund, writer and public activist, the Vice-President of the International Slavic literature and culture Fund, the secretary of the Union of Writers RF Michael Chvanov, the winner of the last year contest “Teacher of Russian language and literature”, pedagogue Olga Sazonova and the employee of the Bashkir Institute of education development (BIRO) Tatiana Dorozkina.

The World Russian National Congress is an international public organization and the largest Russian public forum. It exists since 1993 and makes the attraction of public attention to the most actual problems of up-to-dateness as its main aim.

The first Congress has taken place on May 26-28 in Moscow. The Patriarch of Moscow and the whole of Russia is the head of the Congress and the annual meetings are held under his chairmanship.

Since July 21, 2005 the World Russian National Congress owns the special consultative status under the United Nations Organization. The representative office of the Russian National Congress under the UNO, called to provide for the interaction between the Congress and this international organization, has been founded that time too.
