Bashkir sabantuy in Istanbul has gathered the compatriots all over Turkey

The Bashkir national festival “sabantuy” has taken place the day before in the center of Istanbul, Turkey, and one may say with certainty it has become the most picturesque, populous and enthralling sight of the Days of science and culture in Istanbul. In spite of a rainy weather the plough festival has gathered many of our compatriots and citizens of Istanbul all over Turkey.

The members of the official delegation RB – the Prime-Minister of Government RB Rail Sarbaev, the deputy Prime-Minister of Government RB, Minister of culture and national politics RB Ildus Ilishev, the chairman of the state committee for external economic relations RB Ruslan Mirsayapov and other officials have taken part in the celebration.

Greeting the participants of the Istanbul’s festival the Prime-Minister of Government RB Rail Sarbaev has told the words of gratitude and respect on behalf of the President RB Murtaza Rakhimov and the whole multinational population RB to all people of Turkey. Turkey and Bashkortostan are closely concerned with the friendly relations, based on the common Turk roots and the milestones of history. Thus, the international organization for joint development of Turk culture and art TURKSOY declared 2010 the Year of Achmet-Zaki Validi – the Bashkir Turk specialist, who lived in Turkey for many years and was buried here too. The Government RB has reached the decision to hold the Days of science and culture RB, devoted to the 120th anniversary of this prominent scientist and public activist, in Turkey. The delegation RB has laid the flowers on his grave yesterday.

The exact translation of the ancient Turk word “sabantuy” means the festival of the plough (“saban” – plough, “tuy” – celebrity). Per se this is the ritual, symbolizing the end of the spring field works. The art of any nation is unique and wonderful and interaction of different cultures and acquaintance with them enrich everybody, making the understanding between people of different nationalities easier. Sabantuy is unthinkable without various sport competitions, songs and dances and all that was present at the sabantuy in Istanbul.
