The VI interregional conference, devoted to urban Bashkirs, has worked up practical recommendations

The totals of the VI interregional conference “Urban Bashkirs: problems of language and demography”, held in the town of Oktyabrsky today, are summed up in the resolution, approved by its participants.

Not only scientists and pedagogues but employees of ministries and departments have taken part in the scientific forum, devoted to the actual problems of Bashkir ethnos in the conditions of globalization and organized in connection with the forthcoming III World Bashkir Kurultay (Congress). More than 100 reports have been introduced by scientists, representatives of the authority and pedagogues from Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Orenburg, Samara, Chelyabinsk and Perm regions, inhabited by numerous Bashkir communities.

The participants of the conference were discussing various aspects of material and spiritual culture of urban Bashkirs, functioning of Bashkir language in different spheres of science and culture, sharing the experience of study of state and native languages in Bashkortostan and marking the importance of preservation and development of Bashkir traditions and culture.

Taking the actuality of the discussed problems into account the participants of the conference suggested that it should be expedient to appeal to the State Council RB with the proposal to bring the whole legislative base of the Republic in conformity with “The law about languages of the nations RB” and recommend the deputies of Russian State Duma, members of Russian Federation Council to carry on a dialogue with all fractions and political communities, aimed at the explanation of the positions RB re the national policy. The resolution offers several recommendations, aimed at preservation and development of cultural and spiritual-moral potential of urban Bashkirs; perfection of Bashkir language teaching, consolidation of Bashkir nation etc.

It is decided to hold the next VII conference, devoted to urban Bashkirs, in 2010 in the town of Utchaly, Bashkortostan.
