Ufa authorities will combat gambling industry

The underground gambling industry still remains the headache for Ufa administration. In spite of all efforts, undertaken by the authorities of Ufa they still fail to exterminate this evil, the Ufa Mayor Paul Kachaev reported at today’s operative gathering in Ufa administration.
“Though we are struggling with the illegal gambling houses, the number of people, wishing to earn money illegally, is still rather high” – he said – “There are more than three dozens gaming clubs in the city now and the infringers have even managed to open a casino in Ufa on the last week”.
As M-r Kachkaev said, the underground gaming houses have been discovered in four districts of the city: 10 clubs in Kalininsky, 10 clubs in Oktyabrsky, 12 clubs in Sovetsky and four clubs in Ordjonikidzevsky districts of Ufa.
Paul Kachaev urged all municipal administrations and law-enforcement bodies to continue the active struggle with the illegal gaming industry and, as he said, this work should be completed by the 1st of March, 2010. As he stated, the underground gambling industry should leave the city forever.
It should be noted that the federal law “Regulation of gambling industry” has come into force since July 1, 2009. In accordance with the law the gambling industry is prohibited on the whole territory of Russia except four specially determined zones – on the Maritime Territory, in Altai and Kaliningrad regions and on the verge of Krasnodar and Rostov regions.
