Dmitry Medvedev speaks in support of internet mass-media
President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev came out in support on online mass-media, speaking at the Forum of European and Asian mass-media today.
“We live in complicated and informational-intense world and new technologies and forms of data accessing appear every year. Today online mass-media directly compete with the traditional press and I think this is a positive phenomenon because the informational scope of people is thus expanded” – he said.
According to Dmitry Medvedev he opened his own blog in internet more than one year ago and considered it very useful way of information exchange.
“At the same time it gives me the possibility to feel myself a journalist” – the President of Russia said.
In parallel with online mass-media over kinds of electronic technologies are actively developing in media-sphere. Thus, the digital TV-broadcasting became very popular in several Russian regions and by 2015 the whole territory of Russia would be covered by this kind of TV.
“We plan to appropriate substantial means for these purposes both from the federal exchequer and by commercial structures” – Dmitry Medvedev reported – “The presence of the mass-media with powerful technological base and good professionals is to my mind the attribute of strong and independent state”.
More than 100 editors-in chief from the countries of the former USSR gathered at the forum. Similar arrangement will be held in our Republic soon: the II mass-media festival “The System of Values” will be held in Ufa on December 10-12 and it is initiated by the all-Russian public organization “Media Union” and by the Public Chamber RF with assistance of the Federal Press and Mass Communications Agency RF, Government RB and the press, publishing and polygraphy department under Government RB.
