On October 14 President of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rakhimov held a work meeting with the chairman of the World Tatar Congress executive committee Rinat Zakirov in the Republic House.

The questions of further consolidation and development of interaction between Bashkortostan and Tatarstan in sphere of culture, education and science were under discussion.

Murtaza Rakhimov mentioned that Bashkortostan always placed high emphasis on preservation of culture and development of languages of the nations, living on the territory of Bashkortostan.

The parties agreed with the necessity to work up a joint position in the dialogue with the federal center on the actual questions concerning preservation of national components in the education system and when solving the questions concerning entering higher education institutions and passing the unified state exam.

Rinat Zakirov expressed his thanks to Murtaza Rakhimov for the measures on support of Tatars, living in Bashkortostan.

“We see that neighboring Bashkortostan made all conditions and Tatars may study their language, preserve their culture and rear their children in the traditions of Tatar nation here. The wonderful Tatar Theater “NUR” is built up in the capital of Bashkortostan and children may study Tatar language at schools, Tatar villages are found in excellent condition in many regions of Bashkortostan and all that can’t but gladden us” – the head of the World Tatar Congress executive committee said.

The questions concerning widening of broadcasting of TV-channels of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan on the territories of our Republics and preparations for the forthcoming Tatar Congress RB in 2010 were under discussion too.
