“Halal” market RB is taken under control

The market of “Halal” foodstuffs will now be controlled by the corresponding board under the Clerical Muslim Dept RB, chairman of the Central Clerical Muslim Dept RB, Mufti Nurmuchamet Nigmatullin reported today.

The committee on “Halal” standard was established in the Republic for control over circulation of products in July, 2009. It is connected with the fact that “Halal” market is becoming more and more popular. Its annual trade turnover all over the world reaches 600 billion USD and it is quite naturally that this niche is rather attractive for business undertakings but it often happens so that this business not always and not everywhere remains legitimate.

The word “Halal” means “permissible” from Arab” – the deputy chairman of the Clerical Muslim Dept RB Aup Bibarsov tells – “It is very important for a Muslim to know does he or she use the permissible food, i.e. the food, which doesn’t contain either blood and pork or dead flesh, prohibited in accordance with the Islamic canons. Since more than two billion Muslims live all over the world, it is quite natural that “Halal” market is developing itself quite stormy. For today the market of “Halal” foodstuffs in Russia looks rather chaotic and our division has to provide the control over this market in Bashkortostan and, if necessary, in the neighboring regions and out task is to develop “Halal” industry, protecting both the interests of the producers and the consumers. Certification of “Halal” production will be free-will and those producers, who would like to confirm the legitimacy of their presence in the “Halal” market, may receive Russian certificates. Thereby they undertake the obligation that all their foodstuffs are produced in accordance with the Islamic restrictions”.
