The committee of standard “Halal” will protect interests of Muslim population in Bashkortostan

The committee on Muslim standard “Halal” is established under the Central Clerical Dept RB and development of “Halal” industry on the territory of Bashkortostan will become its main challenge.

“We will be occupied with the introduction of “Halal” standard , its unification, integration and control” – the head of the committee Ilshat Gizatullin tells – “It concerns meat-packing industry first of all, public catering enterprises, medical and education institutions, confectionary industry and those spheres, where actual interests for Muslim believers of our Republic may be present”.

The word “Halal” (from Arab word “al-halal”) has long ago become the synonym of what a Muslim may eat and what he or she mustn’t. Thereby “Halal” is the brand, which indicates that this or that food is cooked in accordance with Muslim traditions and it doesn’t include the components, which a Muslim mustn’t eat, for example, pork, blood or dead flesh.

It is considered that the meat of the animals, slaughtered in accordance with Islamic canons, is tastier and more useful for one’s health because these animals are bred on ecologically clean fodder without hormone-containing admixtures.

The committee “Halal” will monitor the technologies of food production and will issue corresponding marking to “Halal” food producing enterprises. Similar committee works in neighboring Tatarstan since 2005 and controls about 20 large producers of “Halal” foodstuffs. The committee worked out the requirements both for the raw material, used in production of “Halal” foodstuffs, as well as for the personnel, occupied in this branch and also for the production facilities, transport, instruments, special clothes and package.
