All-Russian conference “Enlightener traditions of Islam in Volga region”, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Riza Fakhretdin is opened in Ufa

All-Russian scientific-practical conference “Enlightener traditions of Islam in Volga region: the First Fakhretdin readings” is opened in Ufa today. The Mufti RB Nurmukhamet Nigmatullin, the advisor of Russian President Administration, director of the Fund for support of Islamic culture, science and education Alexei Grishin, the advisor of Machinery of the Plenipotentiary of President RF in Volga federal district Igor Simonov, scientists, public, religious and political activists from different Russian regions are taking part in work of the conference, dated to the 150th anniversary of Riza Fakhretdin. State advisor under President RB Sergey Lavrentiev has read out the salutary address of President RB Murtaza Rakhimov. The personality of Riza Fakhretdin represents the example of “spiritual jihad” and he preached that the unity of religion and science was the best method for the knowledge of the world. Riza Fakhretdin combined creation with spiritual service, stood for the rights of Muslims and saved Muslim clergy from oppressions. “He piously believed that the time would come when the truth triumphs because nobody was righteous to deprive people of their right for convictions”-said in the welcoming message of President RB. Plenary session will take place in the first half of the day and after lunch the conference will continue working in sections. Participants of the conference intend to discuss the issues connected with investigation of Riza Fakhretdin’s heritage, problems of reforms in Muslim world, state-religious interrelations in Russia and development of Muslim enlightenment and education.
