In Ufa, pensioner did not let scammers steal his million and gold bar

An 82-year-old man almost became a victim of fraudsters, but stopped in time and saved his savings.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan, it all started with a message in a messenger about a meter check. Then the pensioner received calls "from the bank" and "from the police," claiming that money was supposedly being transferred from his account abroad. Frightened, the elderly man withdrew all his savings — more than 3 million rubles, bought a gold bar for 2 million, and withdrew another 600 thousand from another bank. All this time, the scammers were in contact with him.

When it was time to hand over the bar, the man began to have doubts. The scammers started threatening him, but the pensioner no longer believed them and turned off his phone. The next day, he went to the police, where a criminal case was initiated.
