The scammers were left with nothing.
A resident of Ufa narrowly avoided becoming a victim of scammers, thanks to a friend's vigilance, and managed to avoid losing more than 7 million rubles.
As reported by the press service of the Republic of Bashkortostan prosecutor's office, it all began with a phone call: an unknown person, introducing himself as a delivery service employee, convinced the woman to dictate a code from an SMS. After this, a notification arrived in her email about attempts to log into her personal account on the Gosuslugi portal. Then someone claiming to be a "Central Bank" employee contacted her and said scammers were trying to take out loans in her name. To save her money, they suggested she urgently transfer all her savings to a "safe account."
Despite her fear and regular safety briefings at work, the woman decided to consult with a close friend. The friend immediately realized it was a scam and convinced her to contact the police.
