Trap for investor: Ufa resident lost half million rubles on "stock exchange"

A 56-year-old man contacted the police and said he had been scammed by people who promised stock market returns.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bashkortostan, from March 1 to April 21, the criminals contacted him by phone and via messaging services, posing as traders.

Having convinced the victim of the possibility of a quick income, the scammers lured him into sending money, supposedly for withdrawing funds. As a result, the Ufa resident transferred about 533 thousand rubles to the scammers. Of this amount, 23 thousand were personal savings, and the remaining 510 thousand were credit funds. The man realized he had been deceived only when access to his personal account was blocked, and the "representatives" of the exchange stopped contacting him.

The police have initiated a criminal case under the article "fraud on a large scale".
