Based on the materials of a prosecutorial inspection, a criminal case was initiated for the infliction of damage totaling more than 1.8 million rubles resulting from the installation of a mining farm.
As reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bashkortostan, a 31-year-old man set up a mining farm for cryptocurrency production in a building on a garden plot between July 2024 and February 2026.
To reduce electricity costs and increase profits, he reprogrammed the metering device, resulting in a 96% underreporting of resource consumption. As a result of such unlawful actions, the resource supply organization suffered damage exceeding 1.8 million rubles.
The Prosecutor's Office sent the inspection materials to the preliminary investigation body to determine whether criminal prosecution is warranted. Based on their review, a criminal case was initiated under the article "infliction of property damage by deceit or abuse of trust."
