Scammers have come up with a new way to steal money from Russians, according to the Cyberpolice Herald, which provided a clear example.
The other day, a woman subscribed to a psychology channel on Telegram. After some time, she received a personal message from the channel's author thanking her for subscribing and offering to download a "gift course". The file "courses.apk" (APK - an archive of files with components for installing applications) was attached to the message.
This was a malicious program that gave the scammers access to banking applications on the phone. The funds from all the victims' accounts disappeared.
As the police explained, it is not difficult for the attackers to get a list of subscribers to a popular channel and create a fake account of its author.
Previously, scammers actively sent out the same links under the guise of photos and postcards.
