Investment scammers deceived two residents of the republic. In just one day, residents handed over more than 4 million rubles to fraudsters, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.
A 65-year-old man from the Uchaly District fell victim to a phone call from so-called lawyers who offered to help him recover 590,000 rubles he had previously invested. Trusting the “specialist,” the pensioner began actively communicating with the fraudsters. Following their instructions, he transferred large sums of money, supposedly to cover taxes, legal fees, and other expenses. The scammers created a convincing narrative about the return of his investment, which strengthened the rural resident’s trust. However, he never got his money back. He gave the criminals around 2 million rubles, most of which was taken as a loan.
A 47-year-old man from the Ufa District also became a victim of investment fraud. The day before, he received a call via a popular messenger app from someone claiming to represent an investment company. Trusting the caller, the man began transferring money to various accounts, believing he was about to receive investment profits. In the end, he lost more than 2.5 million rubles of his personal savings in pursuit of earnings.
