Tobacco products sold without license will be criminally prosecuted In Russia

The President of Russia signed a law specifying the mechanisms of state regulation of the tobacco market. Recently, the State Duma adopted the law and approved it by the Federation Council.

As stated in the explanatory note, criminal liability is now established for the production, supply, and purchase, storage of tobacco products, nicotine-containing products, and raw materials for their production without an appropriate license in cases where such a license is required. Responsibility for these acts will come on the condition that they are committed on a large scale, defined as the cost of the relevant products or raw materials over 100 thousand rubles.

Appropriate changes are made to the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
