Passengers of plane with failed engine over Ufa arrived at destination airport

Most of the passengers on the KrasAvia Yak-42 plane, which was flying KI-9551 from Ufa to Nizhnevartovsk and returned to the airport due to engine failure, arrived at their destination.

According to TASS, the number of passengers departing with a backup board was less than on the initial flight. At present, the created commission, comprising the airline’s specialists and representatives of regulatory authorities, including the Volga Transport Prosecutor’s Office, is investigating the causes of the Yak-42 malfunction.

Earlier it was reported that the Yak-42 plane departed from Ufa to Nizhnevartovsk at 21.35 local time. After the departure, at 22.37, it had one of the engines failed. Because of this, the crew decided not to continue the flight and requested an emergency return to Ufa.

There were 73 passengers, including three children, eight crew members on board of the aircraft.

According to Ufa airport, the emergency rescue teams were alerted. The aircraft landed normally at 12.20 am on December 11.
