Pilot-in-command is charged of plane crash in Sheremetyevo - Russian Investigative Committee

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the pilot-in-command Denis Evdokimov was recognized as the defendant in the case of a plane crash at Sheremetyevo Airport. The pilot of the RRJ-95B aircraft, bearing the name of the national poet of Bashkortostan Mustai Karim, is charged with the crime under Part 3 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code "Violation of air traffic safety rules and aircraft steering rules that entailed death of two and more people through negligence."

“On May 5, 2019, the pilot-in-command of the aircraft following the Moscow-Murmansk route made a hard landing on the runway of Sheremetyevo Airport after returning to the departure airport. The actions of Evdokimov, committed in violation of the established rules, resulted in the destruction and fire of the aircraft and caused the death of 40 passengers and one crew member. Besides, ten people received bodily injuries of varying severity”, the Main Directorate for Investigation of Major Cases of the Investigative Committee informs.

Total, at the time of the fire, 78 people were on board, including three minors and five crew members. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
