Plane hit its tail during takeoff in Ufa airport and was forced to interrupt flight

UFA, 14 December 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. When taking off at Ufa airport, the Ural Airlines aircraft hit the runway with its tail and was forced to interrupt the flight, according to Interfax, citing a source at the airport services.

The incident occurred the day before, the Airbus A321 was flying from Ufa to Nizhnevartovsk.

“After taking off from the Ufa airport, the command pilot reported a heavy blow of the runway with the tail section of the plane and potential damage to the tail unit. It was decided to urgently interrupt the flight and send the plane to the nearest airport, where the airline has a depot maintenance shop - to Yekaterinburg”, the agency said.

According to the source, the airliner managed to land safely at Koltsovo airport. The plane was suspended from flights, it is examined by technicians.
