Tragedy in Bashkiria exposed a problem of interaction gap between guardianship and medical bodies - Pavel Astakhov

UFA, 19 August 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Arthur Basyrov/. The Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of Russia Pavel Astakhov commented in his Twitter a tragedy in Bashkiria, when a woman drowned her own children in the shower cabin.

"New tragedy in Bashkortostan, where two children died at the hands of a mentally ill mother, exposed a problem of interaction gap between guardianship and medical bodies. The family was quite prosperous, complete. The father and mother have a higher education (with honours), excellent career, material prosperity. As well as the tragedy in Nizhny Novgorod, in this case a mental disorder was the cause of crimes against their own children. The guardianship bodies must keep under special control the families, where parents suffer from mental illness in order to avoid tragedies", Pavel Astakhov wrote in his microblog.

Recall, that on August 17 in the town of Oktyabrsky a 27-year-old woman drowned in the shower her two children. As it turned out, she had been treated in a psychiatric hospital from June 30 to August 14.
