Former coach of HC "Salavat Yulaev" Sergey Mikhalev died in a car accident in the Chelyabinsk region

UFA, 21 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. In the morning of April 21, the honoured coach of Russia Sergey Mikhalev crashed in an accident near Asha settlement, returning home from the funeral of his colleague, former coach of the Chelyabinsk HC "Tractor" Valery Belousov. The information was confirmed by the press service of the HC "Salavat Yulaev". According to preliminary data, Mikhalev was a passenger of "Skoda Octavia", collided with a truck in the oncoming lane. The accident occurred at about 5.30 on the road Samara - Ufa - Chelyabinsk. The circumstances and causes of the accident to be specified.
Sergey Mikhalev played in the Bashkir club in the 70s. At the end of his career he became a coach, the head coach of "Salavat Yulaev" (1979-1990). In 2005 he returned to Ufa club as the head coach, under his leadership the team won the gold medal of the Russian championship in the 2007-2008 season. In February 2015, Sergey Mikhalev took the position of the general manager for sports issues of the club.
