Environmental Prosecutor's Office of Bashkortostan revealed violations in operation of snow dumps

UFA, 3 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Catherine Sokolova/. The Bashkir Environmental Prosecutor's Office conducted inspections of the snow dumps in the cities of Ufa, Sterlitamak and Salavat. It turned out that they were exploited with violations.

According to the press service of the republican Prosecutor's Office, administrations of Salavat and Sterlitamak did not take into account the environmental and urban conditions in determining locations for snow dumps. The territories of Ufa landfills, where during the winter more than a million cubic metres of snow were delivered, had no hard coating, sewerage and fences. This led to the contamination of soil and exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of petroleum products by 25 times, chlorides – by 600, sodium – by 700 times.

Following the inspection four responsible persons were brought to disciplinary liability. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the management of specialized organizations, after which they were fined for 12 thousand rubles.
