Prosecutor's Office checked the prices in Ufa stores

UFA, 27 January 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. The officers of the Prosecutor's Office checked pricing on staple foods and baby food in the stores of Ufa, Ufa district and detected more than 50 violations. The checks were conducted in 40 stores, with participation of experts of Antimonopoly Service, Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights and the State Committee for Trade.

According to the press service of the department, the average margin of retailers ranged from 20 to 25 percent and was within the norm - not higher than 30 percent.

More than a hundred percent overpricing of baby food was revealed in retail chains "OK", "Yarmarka", "Aldo".

Also, there were detected several cases of consumer fraud: prices charged at the cash desk were higher than stated on the price tags.

The facts of groundless overpricing of eggs were registered, the materials on this violation were sent to the Directorate of FAS in RB.

Total 50 violations of legislation on pricing were found, measures of prosecutorial response were taken.

Checks will continue, they are carried out on the instructions of the Prosecutor General of Russia across the country, the Prosecutor's Office of Bashkortostan reminds. According to the law on trade the regional government can introduce state regulation of prices for socially important goods, if within 30 days they grow by more than 30 percent. Restrictions on growth of prices are entered for a period of 90 days.
