Rustem Khamitov: "The situation with passenger transportation requires serious control over the quality of carriers’ services"

On August 13, in Ufa Congress Hall Rustem Khamitov spoke at the All-Russian conference of territorial directorates of the state road supervision of the Federal Service for Transport Supervision, the press service of the head of the region informs.

Rustem Khamitov familiarized participants with socio-economic indicators of the republic noting that Bashkortostan is one of the largest subjects of the Russian Federation and one of the key transport regions of Russia. Talking about the problems in the industry Rustem Khamitov mentioned "about sometimes problematic state of highways, which often leads to accidents".

“Last week 23 people died in road accidents in the republic. Many, too many. Total for the year about 600-650 people die in road accidents. Last week was one of the "record" ones. Some accidents occurred due to the fact that the road carpet was not ok”, the head of the republic said.

According to him, the situation with passenger transportation is also complicated.

“Unfair practices of separate market participants, non-compliance of vehicles’ technical condition to requirements are registered. I will give an example. In March, at once eight people died in the accident. An illegal carrier killed eight people transporting them in his unequipped car. All this requires an increase in inspection and enforcement activities effectiveness, in systematic efforts to ensure reliable operation of road transport complex.”

Rustem Khamitov noted that "we work in close cooperation with colleagues from the Territorial Directorate of Gosavtodornadzor, especially when checking the safety of federal and republican roads, at monitoring activities of economic entities having licenses for hazardous goods shipment".

According to the head of the republic, "the main direction of work is to ensure safety of people in transport".

The republic takes steps to control the legality of occurrence of each bus on routes, enhances supervision of physical state of drivers, technical condition of the fleet.

“Now we are considering a possibility, and in fact we already began a transition to large buses. A tender is announced for purchasing 44 large buses to run on the routes of Ufa. By the way, they are manufactured locally, in our republic at Neftekamsk Automobile Plant. They make good, reliable vehicles there. Purchases are made on a competitive basis”, Rustem Khamitov said.
