Every fourth accident in 2013 occurred because of bad roads in the capital of Bashkiria

At a regular meeting of the City Council of Ufa the Head of Ufa Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Sergey Sergeev submitted a report on operational activities of the department in 2013. He noted that despite the adoption of preventive measures, they failed to reduce road accidents in the city. The growth amounted to 11.6 percent. Also number of dead and injured people in car accidents increased by 17.8 percent.
“The analysis shows that every fourth road accident occurred due to poor road conditions. Thus, because of deficiencies in the operational state of streets and roads 643 accidents occurred (an increase by 80), in which 33 (+ 8) died and over 800 people (+ 142) received injuries of varying severity,” the Head of Ufa Directorate said.
The speaker noted there were also accidents caused by bus drivers. During 2013 there were 78 such accidents in which one person died and 108 were injured.
