Silage harvesting in Bashkiria is nearing completion, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan reported.
To date, the region's farmers have harvested more than 880 thousand tons of silage for livestock wintering. The region has fulfilled 83 percent of its succulent fodder harvesting plan.
"Traditionally, large volumes of silage are prepared by districts with developed dairy cattle farming. Thus, 114 thousand tons were harvested in the Chekmagushevsky district, 86 thousand tons in the Ilishevsky district, and 79 thousand tons in the Aurgazinsky district. Given that the planned volumes of roughage have already been harvested in the republic, it can be said that the region's farmers have coped with the task," emphasized the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkiria.
Currently, hay stocks in the republic exceed 608 thousand tons, and haylage — 1 million 74 thousand tons. As a result, the farmers of Bashkortostan have harvested 24.3 centners of feed units per conditional head of livestock, which is 95% of the planned indicator.
