In Bashkiria, low grain prices will be compensated by oilseeds
High-margin oilseeds will help farmers hold onto grain until prices stabilize. As Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan Irik Surakov explained during a broadcast by the Center for Management of the Republic (TsUR), agricultural enterprises in the region are advised not to sell grain at the low prices that are traditionally set during the new harvest period, but to store it until winter, when the value increases.
“There were times when grain was sold for 20 rubles per kilogram,” the deputy minister recalled (the current average price for 3rd-class wheat is about 14 rubles/kg).
Oilseeds, which are "expensive" commodities with high demand, will help farmers pay off short-term loans on time and receive "ready" cash.
It is important that this delay in selling the new harvest will not affect the price tag of bread, emphasized Irik Surakov.
