In Bashkiria, half of forage crop areas have been harvested
Farmers in the republic have harvested more than half of the forage crops — 311 thousand hectares have been mown, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan reported. As the department previously explained, due to heavy rainfall at the beginning of summer, farms concentrated on harvesting haylage, and 75% of the planned amount has already been harvested. Hay stocks amount to 90 thousand tons.
In total, for a successful wintering period, the region needs to harvest 650 thousand tons of hay, 1.1 million tons of haylage, and 1 million tons of silage. For one conventional head of cattle, 28 centners of feed units of roughage and succulent feed are needed (1 feed, or oat, unit equals 1414 kcal).
To date, the availability of roughage and succulent feed in the region has reached 11 centners of feed units per head.
