

On January 20, the Bank of Russia will issue a commemorative coin in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of writer Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin. This coin is part of the "Outstanding Personalities of Russia" series.
Saltykov-Shchedrin was one of the most famous satirists of the 19th century. He wrote familiar satirical tales from childhood, including "The Wise Minnow," "The Tale of How One Peasant Fed Two Generals," "The Idealist Crucian Carp," as well as novels such as "The History of a Town" and "The Golovlyov Family," the Central Bank's press service noted.
The 2-ruble coin is made of 925 sterling silver and weighs 15.55 grams. The diameter is 33 mm. It is minted in proof quality, with a mintage of 3,000 pieces.
