Bashkir innovators have patented nearly 500 inventions

By the number of applications, Bashkiria ranks second in the Volga Federal District and ninth in Russia. In 2024, inventors from Bashkiria submitted 489 patent applications to Rospatent. According to the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, the region placed second in the Volga Federal District and ninth nationwide. Most innovations were in civil construction (72 applications), medical technology (48), and chemical engineering (32). Additionally, patents were filed for engines, pumps, turbines, furniture, and games. Organizations and enterprises in Bashkiria reported using 490 inventions last year.

Branding activity has also increased: trademark registration applications grew by 8%, with Bashkir entrepreneurs submitting almost 2,000 applications. By the end of 2024, Bashkir rights holders possessed over 7,300 active trademark certificates.

Bashkir brands are well recognized beyond the region, Rospatent noted. Among them are the mineral waters "Assy," "Kurgazak," and "Yumatovskaya," "Bashkir Honey," "Burzyan Wild Hive Honey," and "Kuray" - a symbol of national culture. Among industrial brands, "Mansurovsky Granite" stands out. At the same time, the "Bashkir Horse" is a unique product designation—one of only two animal-related items on Russia's list of geographical indications and designations of origin.

Earlier, it was reported that at the XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Bashkiria signed a trilateral agreement on cooperation in intellectual property.
