Fruit and vegetable prices fell by 8% year-on-year in Bashkortostan.

After three months of slowing, annual inflation rose again and reached 8.23% in Bashkortostan in September (8.8% in the Volga Federal District, 7.98% in the Russian Federation). By August, prices had increased by 0.33%.

In the food sector, eggs saw the largest price increase over the month (12.4%)—after eight months of decline, their prices rose. Seasonal supply constraints and cumulative increases in producer costs drove this. At the same time, by August 2024, eggs had fallen by 28.4%, the most significant decline.

Sugar prices increased by 1.3% by August and by 1.8% compared to September 2024. "The new harvest of sugar has begun to arrive on store shelves. The cost of production and, consequently, the final prices already reflect increased farmer costs. Furthermore, this year, the region's sugar beet acreage has decreased by a quarter. Therefore, there is no overproduction like last year," explain experts from the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

Fruit and vegetable prices continue to fall. With the new harvest now abundant, prices for vegetables (potatoes, cabbage, beets, carrots, and onions), as well as for apples and grapes, have dropped significantly. Compared to the previous year, vegetable prices fell by 8.11%, while fruit prices increased by 0.46%.
