Kumys is the leading dairy product export.
According to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), since the beginning of the year, specialists have monitored the shipment of over 7,100 tons, or 1,130 consignments, of dairy products from the region to Customs Union countries (for comparison, over 6,000 tons of dairy products were exported during the same period in 2024).
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan purchase horse kumys, powdered milk, whey powder, cheese, and ice cream from Bashkortostan. Kumys accounts for the majority of dairy exports.
The products undergo laboratory testing in accordance with EAEU veterinary safety requirements and meet the requirements of the Customs Union and importing countries.
All producers of fermented milk products and raw milk products have been certified for export and are included in the relevant registries. Bashinform previously reported that agricultural exports from Bashkortostan exceeded $261 million.
As a reminder, the national project "International Cooperation and Export" is being implemented. Its goal is to ensure real growth in non-resource, non-energy exports of at least 70 percent by 2030 compared to 2020, Bashinform reported.
