At a meeting with the President, Marat Khusnullin noted that this year's volume of road repairs and construction has increased by 21% compared to last year's figures.
Thus, in Bashkortostan, the Dyurtyuli-Achit section of the M-12 "East" highway has opened. Construction of the ring road around the Sea of Azov continues. A new ring road around Kaliningrad is planned to be completed by 2030. Construction of the first phase of the Ring Road 2 in St. Petersburg has begun. Road construction along the Black Sea coast continues.
Despite the increase in motorization and traffic volume, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that road accidents and fatalities have decreased by 9% over the past five years. The Dyurtyuli-Achit section opens a seamless, high-speed corridor to Yekaterinburg from Moscow and St. Petersburg. It includes the M-11 Neva, the Central Ring Road, and the M-12 Vostok highways. The total length of the corridor from Moscow is approximately 1,520 kilometers, and from St. Petersburg it is 1,000 kilometers longer. Its main advantage is the absence of traffic lights along the entire route, with a speed limit of up to 130 km/h. Travel will be twice as fast as on regular roads.
