The Central Bank of Russia has begun work on a new 500-ruble banknote, RIA Novosti reports, citing Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Sergei Belov.
The lilac-violet color scheme is planned to remain the same, and the design theme will be dedicated to the North Caucasus Federal District and its capital, Pyatigorsk. Sergei Belov explained that the Advisory Council will determine the list of landmarks at the end of September, which will then be submitted to a public online vote.
