The government of Bashkiria discussed how to ensure growth in housing construction in the republic's small towns. Prime Minister Andrey Nazarov recalled that there are eight cities in the republic with a population of less than 50,000 people. These are Agidel, Baymak, Birsk, Blagoveshchensk, Davlekanovo, Dyurtyuli, Uchaly, and Yanaul. They accounted for only 3.3% of last year's record commissioning or about 112,000 square meters out of 3.348 million square meters of housing.
This record volume was provided mainly by individual housing construction—almost 70%. Residents built 19,735 houses with a total area of 2.335 million square meters at their own expense and with loans, said the head of the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Bashkiria, Artem Kovshov.
Developers commissioned 1.13 million square meters of housing. Multi-apartment and block houses appeared only in 28 municipalities, including the largest ones—Ufa, Neftekamsk, Oktyabrsky, and Sterlitamak. These four cities account for 88% of all built houses.
The Ministry of Construction believes that state support programs for the secondary market are more effective for small cities. From April 1, residents of 14 cities in Bashkiria will be able to use the "Family Mortgage." The department recommended that municipalities increase the issuance of permits for house construction, allocate new territories for these purposes, and use the mechanism of integrated territory development.
