Russia has adopted bill to extend maternity capital program

The State Duma's press service reported that the bill extending the maternity capital program until December 31, 2030, was adopted in the first reading at the first plenary session of the eighth session.

"The bill on extending the maternity capital program is aimed at implementing the President's message to the Federal Assembly, so it was considered a priority at the first plenary session," said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.

The State Duma Chairman emphasized that Vladimir Putin initiated the maternity capital program in 2006. It has become one of the most effective measures of social support for expectant mothers and young parents. Over 14 million certificates have been issued throughout the program's existence.

The amount of maternity capital will be indexed from February 1, 2025. The payment for the first child, if they were born or adopted no earlier than January 1, 2020, will be 676,398.58 rubles. The exact amount of maternity capital will be paid if the second child was born before 2020. For the second or subsequent children born or adopted from January 1, 2020, onwards, parents can receive 893,835.55 rubles if they have not received a certificate before.

"After adopting this law, about 5 million more Russian families will be eligible for maternity capital," said Vyacheslav Volodin.
