Bashkiria's export potential has grown 13-fold

Bashkiria's export potential has grown 13-fold over the past 10 years. In 2023, the region sent more than 730 thousand tons of agricultural products to the foreign market (+78% compared to 2022) worth $328 million at the current exchange rate. The growth compared to the previous year was 112% (2022 - $291.7 million). Compared to 2013, exports grew 13-fold, with products sold for $24.9 million. The growth is due to increased exports of oil and fat products, sugar, oilseeds, and animal feed. As of December 1 of this year, republican enterprises exported 530 thousand tons of agricultural products worth $270 million. More than 65% of shipments are from the oil and fat industry. Such data were announced at the “Agricultural Attaché Hour for Export-Oriented Companies” meeting by Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan – Minister of Agriculture Ilshat Fazrakhmanov.

“Our agricultural producers-exporters are trying different ways to increase the volume of their product deliveries abroad and expand the range of exports, including services, technologies, and competencies. Finished products must be delivered to the customer, including transportation, documentation, storage, etc. Localization of production on the territory of consumers allows us to remove these issues partially,” Fazrakhmanov explained.

Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and almost 40 agricultural attachés representing Russia in 39 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America participated in the online conference. The meeting was held as part of the International Business Week - 2024.

Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Andrei Sukharev noted the high export potential of Bashkiria.

“The event is caused by the need to assist Russian exporters in establishing direct contacts with a wide range of foreign importers to introduce new types of products to the markets of host countries,” noted Andrey Sukharev.
