Bashkiria farmers record high sunflower yield

Bashkiria continues to harvest the main oilseed crop — sunflower. According to the latest regional Ministry of Agriculture data, farmers have harvested 84% of all areas or 264 thousand hectares.

"The harvest is pleasing. Almost 460 thousand tons of oilseeds have been harvested with a yield of 17.4 centners per hectare," the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkiria reported.

The most prosperous sunflower harvest was collected in the Sterlitamaksky District — 38 thousand tons. In the Kuyurgazinsky District of Bashkiria, 34 thousand tons of oilseeds were threshed, a little less — in the Fyodorovsky District — 33.8 thousand tons.

"The highest yield is demonstrated by the Dyurtyulinsky District of the republic, where more than 26 centners of oilseeds are threshed from each hectare," the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkiria added.

As Bashinform reported earlier, the summer of 2024 became a real test for the republic's agricultural sector. Spring frosts and waterlogged soil damaged crops, and a state of emergency was declared. Despite this, Bashkiria has collected a good grain harvest and a record harvest of oilseeds and sugar beets, and the region has met its needs for livestock products. Systematic work to strengthen the industry's material and technical personnel base, the introduction of new technologies, and the development of the village allow Bashkiria's farmers to work with stable results without looking back at the vagaries of the weather.
