Harvesting continues in Bashkiria. The Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, posted on social media about the progress of autumn fieldwork.
"In Bashkortostan, grain and leguminous crops have already been harvested on 1 million 140 thousand hectares - almost 80% of all crops. We have harvested 2.5 million tons of grain. The average yield is 2.2 tons per hectare. In the Davlekanovsky, Gafuriysky, Bakalinsky, Nurimanovsky, Tatyshlinsky, Ermekeyevsky, Buzdyaksky, and Ilishevsky districts, the finish is approaching; the grain is mainly in warehouses. The largest gross grain harvest in the republic is in the Sterlitamaksky district, 150 thousand tons. "More than 100 thousand tons of grain were threshed by the Ilishevsky, Chekmagushevsky, Davlekanovsky, and Meleuzovsky farms," wrote Radiy Khabirov.
The head of the republic also reported that a record harvest of sugar beets is expected in Bashkiria. Thirty percent of all areas where this root crop grows have already been dug up—17 thousand hectares. Seven hundred thousand tons of beets have been collected, averaging more than 45 tons per hectare. Now, it is time to process them. Radiy Khabirov thanked the farmers, noting that they are trying not to miss a day of this not-very-favorable agricultural year.
As Bashinform News Agency previously reported, Radiy Khabirov considers supporting agriculture one of the republic's management team's priority areas of work.
"Our management team is focused on comprehensive support for the industry. This year, we successfully carried out the sowing campaign. The weather conditions of the summer season are difficult, with a lot of precipitation. But given the planned modernization of the agricultural industry, we are counting on a good harvest,” the head of the region believes.
Rural development is the key to ensuring food security. Therefore, following the task set by the country's president, Bashkiria will have to increase agricultural production by a quarter and its export volume by another 1.5 times (the republic currently exports agricultural products to 44 countries).
