Bashkortostan shows increase in number of cities with favorable urban environments

Bashkortostan ranks 22nd in terms of the average value of the urban environment quality index among the subjects of Russia, and its capital, Ufa, ranks 7th among the largest cities. The number of cities with a favorable environment is growing. Over the past five years, their share has increased from 33% to 81%. In many ways, cities are changing due to participation in the federal program "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" and Bashkortostan's participation in the All-Russian competition for the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements. "It is important that Bashkortostan continues to attract federal funds to renovate public spaces. The republic is among the leaders in the number of grants won and cultural centers renovated in cities and villages. We add part of the funds for improvement from the republic's budget, and businesses are also actively involved," notes Radiy Khabirov. Since 2019, thanks to federal support, 683 objects have already been improved throughout Bashkortostan - parks, squares, embankments, and other public areas. In 2024, thanks to the federal program "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment," another 123 public areas are being improved. These are parks and squares, embankments, squares, pedestrian zones, and alleys.
