Bashkortostan farmers reserve last year's grain for 2025 seeds

The head of the agricultural department of Bashkortostan, Ilshat Fazrakhmanov, said at an operational meeting of the government that the capacity of 34 republican elevators and farmers' warehouses allows them to simultaneously store about 4 million tons of grain and oilseeds.

Last week, the acceptance of the readiness of the material and technical base of grain-receiving enterprises, grain processing plants, and elevators of the republic was completed.

The carry-over grain reserves of the republic amount to 647 thousand tons, of which 171 thousand tons are grain from the federal intervention fund.

"About 1 million tons of grain are stored in farmers' warehouses—quite high-quality. We see that this year's seeds will be of poor quality. Therefore, farmers are reserving last year's reserves today for 2025 seeds," added the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government—Minister of Agriculture of Bashkortostan.

According to the grain balance, 3.2 million tons of grain are required to meet the region's needs, of which 500,000 tons are for seeds, 2.2 million tons are for grain feed, and 500,000 tons are for processing.

Meanwhile, two sugar factories (Raevsakhar and Chishminsky Sugar Factory) with a daily processing capacity of 11 thousand sugar beets have been prepared for the new season in Bashkiria. As reported at the government's operational meeting, the factories will be launched on August 20 and September 8, respectively.
