Bashkiria will purchase new equipment running on gas engine fuel

Tatyana Aksyutina

Currently, 51 automobile gas filling compressor stations (CNG filling stations) operate in Bashkiria. According to this indicator, the republic is second in the country. To ensure further utilization and efficient operation of the existing infrastructure and the construction of new stations, a more intensive conversion of equipment to natural gas and expansion of the areas of its use is necessary. Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry, Energy, and Innovation of the Republic Alexander Sheldyaev spoke about the immediate plans in this area at an operational government meeting.

By 2024, a staggering 2,200 transport units are slated to be converted to methane, with an additional 200 buses powered by gas engine fuel to be purchased as part of a federal project. This is just the beginning, as the plan extends to 2030 by purchasing 400 methane-powered buses.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan has ambitious plans for the next decade. They aim to purchase around 700 trucks powered by natural gas and over 200 units of self-propelled agricultural equipment running on gas engine fuel. Additionally, they plan to convert 600 existing units to use methane transport. The ministry is also exploring the implementation of a project to ensure equipment refueling directly in the field, which unique mobile gas stations would facilitate.
