Bashkir exports increased by 30% in January-April

In Bashkiria, the volume of agricultural products shipped abroad from the beginning of the year to April 14 amounted to more than 185 thousand tons - almost 30% more than in the same period last year. In value terms, this is more than $80 million (5% more).

In 2023, agricultural enterprises shipped over 700 thousand tons of products abroad to 44 countries.

“Today, we are developing an export development strategy in the republic. Its goal will be simple and clear—to increase supply volumes to 1 million tons of products by 2030 and the cost to $500 million. If we want to develop, we need to increase exports and sell products at a good price, more expensive than inside the market,” commented Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Ilshat Fazrakhmanov.

India and China are the key countries importing goods into the Bashkir agricultural sector. The region also actively cooperates with Algeria, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. As previously reported, supplies to China are planned to increase shortly.

“If China is interesting to us not only as a sales market but also as a supplier of equipment, African countries are interested primarily as consumers. The population there is actively growing. This is a big market for our milk powder, flour and grain, and vegetable oils - products with a shelf life of more than a year. Some African countries are former colonies, by no means poor, and can buy not only these simple but also costly products,” the head of the Bashkir agro-industrial complex expressed his opinion.

60% of republican agricultural exports consist of oil and fat products. About 18% are food and processing industry products, about 11% are grains, and the rest are oil seeds, alcohols, honey, meat, and dairy products.
