As part of grain interventions, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has purchased about 12 thousand tons from Bashkir agricultural companies since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic reported. At the start of the campaign in December, 6.75 thousand tons of soft wheat of food classes 3-4 and rye of 3-4 classes (class 4 is used for feed) were purchased in the region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, 838.5 thousand tons of grain have been purchased for the state fund since December last year.
“The mechanism of purchasing and commodity interventions helps balance the market. When there is a grain surplus on the market, we purchase it from farmers for the state fund, helping to sell the products and limit price declines profitably. In case of a shortage, grain from the state fund will be sold to bread and flour producers, which will saturate the market and curb price increases,” the federal department recalled.
In March, the federal authorities allocated 7 billion rubles for grain purchases to the state fund.
