In the spring of 2022, the official delegation of Bashkiria and representatives of the republic’s business circles visited Uzbekistan. The result was many signed agreements and agreements on implementing joint projects. Today, we can sum up the first results of this activity and the results for the republic's economy.
The head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, and his team, who are developing relations with friendly countries, opened new markets for enterprises in the region, which is especially important in the context of anti-Russian sanctions. Agreements with Uzbekistan paved the way for business, thanks to which the volume of mutual trade increased by a third.
Bashkiria exports oil and mineral products, bitumen, plastic, wood panels, timber and tools, dairy products, honey, and much more to Uzbekistan. Last year, wire, fittings, glass, and other products from Bashkiria factories entered the top 15 main goods for the first time. The republic also receives metallurgical products, clothing, footwear, textiles, vegetables, and fruits.
In 2023, trade turnover between Bashkiria and Uzbekistan amounted to $170.1 million, 20 million more than a year earlier and 57 million more than the 2021 level. At the end of the year, Uzbekistan rose from 8th to 5th place in Bashkiria's foreign trade turnover.
Thanks to investments from Uzbekistan, a network of automobile gas storage compression stations is being developed in Bashkiria. The total investment for this project is 700 million rubles. A joint venture for producing all-metal gas cylinders for vehicles, with a total investment of about 1 billion rubles, is also planned in Bashkiria. They intend to produce 80,000 cylinders per year for cars and trucks.
More than 200 million rubles were invested by a company from Uzbekistan in its subsidiary Bashkir Forest.
In addition to economic cooperation, educational and cultural exchange is developing. Already, more than a thousand citizens of Uzbekistan are studying at universities in Bashkiria. Our scientists participate in joint projects, research, and creative groups from the Uzbekistan and Bashkiria tours. Conditions have been created for tourism development, and direct flights with Bashkiria have opened. Now, you can fly from Ufa to Tashkent, Namangan, Samarkand, and from March to Fergana.
In 2023, during the III Forum of Interregional Cooperation, action plans for the development of cooperation for 2023–2025 were signed.
In April of this year, the international industrial exhibition “Innoprom. Central Asia". A large-scale stand of Bashkiria will be organized there, where the main achievements of the republic in the fields of industry, agriculture, economics, etc. will be presented. In addition, an extensive business agenda and B2B negotiations are planned. About 70 enterprises in Bashkiria have already submitted applications for participation.
