Food inflation amounted to 8.4% in Bashkiria in February

According to statistics and the National Bank of the Republic, February inflation in the food sector amounted to 8.4% compared to February 2023. Since January, price growth has accelerated by 0.5 percentage points. Let us remind you that in September, food inflation was 3.7%. But at the same time, the price growth for the most unstable category in terms of cost - fresh fruits and vegetables - slowed down little by little: from 22.5% in September to 21.3% in January and 18.8% in February.

Experts explain the rise in food prices by saying manufacturers raised prices due to increased spending. Thus, imported raw materials for confectionery factories have become more expensive, especially for cocoa beans and packaging materials. The costs of flour mills, for example, have increased due to higher prices for transportation and equipment repair costs.

Overall, Bashkiria's inflation in February amounted to 7.6%, up from 7.05% the previous month. Inflation in the region was slightly higher than the general level in the Volga Federal District (7.5%) but lower than in the country (7.7%). High consumer activity remains, allowing manufacturers and suppliers to raise prices and “recapture” their costs.
