Self-employed people increased by 48% last year in Bashkiria

According to the Federal Tax Service for Bashkiria, as of March 1 of this year, the number of self-employed people in the republic amounted to 199.9 thousand people, almost 1.5 times (+48%) more than a year ago. For comparison, at the end of 2021, there were 77 thousand self-employed, and in 2020—in the project's first year—29 thousand people registered as self-employed.

The volume of tax revenues to the consolidated budget of the region from the self-employed in January-February of the current year increased by 89.8% year-on-year and amounted to 114.8 million rubles. For 2023, self-employed people paid 760 million rubles, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic reported.

Self-employed status entitles you to the same support measures as small and medium-sized businesses, including within the national project “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives.”

You can register as self-employed through State Services, the “My Tax” mobile application, in your Federal Tax Service website account, or through banking organizations.

The professional income tax has been in effect in Bashkiria since January 1, 2020. The rate is 4% for individual income and 6% for legal entities and entrepreneurs. There is also a tax deduction for the tax. There is no tax reporting; the application's interaction with the Federal Tax Service is remote. The self-employed are not required to use cash register equipment and do not need to pay fixed contributions to pension insurance. Moreover, self-employment can be combined with work under an employment contract.
